Luego de que la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos publicara el informe sobre las manifestaciones en medio del Paro Nacional, Iván Duque compareció ante los medios de comunicación.
La intervención del presidente se dio en medio de un evento del Ministerio de Tecnologías de la Información y las Comunicaciones en donde aseguró que: «nadie puede recomendarle a un país tolerar la criminalidad».
Además, el jefe de Estado declaró que: «los actos de vandalismo, los actos de terrorismo urbano de baja intensidad, los bloqueos que atentan a los derechos de los ciudadanos, están siendo enfrentados con la Constitución».
Por otro lado, Duque se refirió a la recomendación que hizo la CIDH con relación a la separación de la Policía Nacional del Ministerio de Defensa: «ese no es un tema de capricho en Colombia, desde el segundo gobierno de Lleras Camargo, Colombia ha mantenido esa estructura de manera estable».
Para concluir, el primer mandatario enfatizó en que: «esa estructura de la Policía es para que no tome partido político de ninguna índole, además está en la Constitución en su articulo 218, que debe tener una naturaleza civil».
