El jefe de Estado respondió al a denuncia que hizo el expresidente en un medio de comunicación en donde dijo que recibió una llamada en Washington en la que «le advirtieron que aparentemente voceros del Gobierno colombiano estarían llamando para ofrecer ayuda a la campaña reeleccionista de Donald Trump»
En una entrevista para Deutsche Welle el medio alemán con filial en Latinoamérica, Duque aseguró que su gobierno no ha intervenido ni tiene la intención de participar en proceso electorales democráticos en otros países.
Duque también mencionó una frase que le decía su padre, el entonces exministro y gobernador Iván Duque Escobar: ‘El que las hace se las imagina’
