El profesor y analista político, Gilberto Tobón, aseguró en las últimas horas que jamás pensó participar en política a sus 72 años, pero que la circunstancia actual del país no le permite «ser indiferente».

Tobón Sanín ha sido uno de los mayores contradictores del gobierno Duque y de las acciones en contra de la justicia del expresidente, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, pues siempre se ha mostrado muy critico frente a estos dos temas.
Por medio de su cuenta de Twiiter y a muy tempranas horas de este 19 de marzo, Gilberto Tobón realizó una publicación que reza: «En mis 72 años nunca pensé participar en política, pero la circunstancia actual no me permite ser indiferente. Si mi participación contribuye a la renovación que necesita el país, con gusto asumo el compromiso. Por eso me lanzo al Senado».
