En una entrevista con la periodista María Isabel Rueda para El Tiempo, el expresidente Iván Duque se destapó y lanzó varios nombres para las elecciones presidenciales del 2026.
La comunicadora afirmó que en el escenario actual existen pocos liderazgos visibles para hacerle contrapeso al proyecto político del presidente Gustavo Petro.
A esto, Duque respondió que contrario a lo planteado él si ve en la oposición nombres visibles que podrían disputarle la presidencia al Pacto Histórico en los próximos comicios presidenciales.

Entre los nombres mencionó al ex candidato Federico Gutiérrez, los senadores Paola Holguín y Miguel Uribe, el ex ministro de Justicia Daniel Palacios, el ex embajador Juan Carlos Pinzón y al ex comandante Eduardo Zapateiro.
Sin embargo, no nombró a la senadora María Fernanda Cabal, una de las figuras más visibles de la oposición y del Centro Democrático.
En febrero de este año se conoció un audio de la congresista Cabal refiriéndose al entonces presidente Iván Duque como “mamerto”, evidenciando la fractura que había dentro de la colectividad a los que ambos pertenecían.
