La reforma de la salud propuesta por el gobierno actual ha generado un debate tanto en el sector de la salud como en el político.
Sin duda alguna, uno de los principales opositores a esta iniciativa ha sido el expresidente Álvaro Uribe Vélez.

En días pasados publicó una serie de trinos en los que compara el sistema de salud cubano con el colombiano para señalar que este último “es mejor”.
“Una cosa es la propaganda oficial comunista y otra la realidad miserable que vive el pueblo cubano. Nuestro sistema mixto, solidario, sin monopolio estatal, es de lejos mejor y además mejorable”, indicó Uribe.
“El Sistema actual ha logrado que en las mejores clínicas privadas tengan la misma atención el rico y el pobre. Con el control estatal se llega al maltrato de la población y al privilegio de la burocracia política“, trino el expresidente
Ante estos ataques al proyecto de reforma, el presidente Gustavo Petro no guardó silencio y decidió responder:
“Expresidente Uribe, ¿para qué quiere que las EPS privadas manejen los dineros públicos? Si sabe que eso lleva a desatender pacientes incluso con peligro de muerte y a quebrar hospitales?“.
Incluso, después agregó: “En nuestro proyecto es el paciente el que escoge que entidad de salud le presta la atención, incluso que médico o médica“.
