En su mensaje, la senadora hizo una comparación entre la respuesta internacional al terrorismo después del atentado y la concesión de curules a excombatientes en Colombia, lo que generó diversos comentarios.

“Recordamos con dolor el 9/11, cuando el terrorismo acabó con miles de vidas. Como consecuencia, el mundo enfrentó a los criminales hasta someterlos. Mientras tanto, en Colombia se le dio curul a terroristas. La diferencia entre un país con justicia y uno con impunidad”.
El 9/11 o el ataque terrorista a las Torres Gemelas en Nueva York y al Pentágono en Washington D.C., es un evento que dejó una huella en la conciencia mundial, ya que miles de personas perdieron la vida en esos atentados, y varias naciones se unieron en la lucha contra el terrorismo internacional.
Estados Unidos lideró una coalición global para perseguir y castigar a los responsables de los ataques, lo que llevó a la invasión de Afganistán y la posterior caída del régimen talibán.
La comparación que la senadora Cabal hizo en su tuit se centró en la concesión de curules a excombatientes de grupos guerrilleros en Colombia. Este proceso de reintegración política y social que fue parte de los acuerdos de paz entre el Gobierno nacional y las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc), un grupo guerrillero que estuvo involucrado en el conflicto armado de décadas en el país
