La Agencia de Desarrollo Rural, en cabeza del presidente Luis Alberto Higuera Malavaer, ejecutará en la Zona de Reserva Campesina de El Pato-Balsillas, en San Vicente del Caguán un Proyecto Integral de Desarrollo Agropecuario (PIDAR) por valor de 9 mil millones de pesos.
La iniciativa tiene como objetivo impactar de manera positiva a 370 familias productoras, gracias al suministro de herramientas, insumos y maquinaria, además de la dotación de un centro de acopio y el acompañamiento a los productores para la comercialización directa con el fin de eliminar a los intermediarios.

Esta intervención en una región remota y olvidada por el Estado es el inicio de un nuevo enfoque de la ruralidad para Colombia, un proyecto que combinará la seguridad alimentaria con la producción en mediana escala. Por lo tanto, el frijol y el café, alternado con plátano, serán generadores de un proceso sostenible.
Es importante mencionar que esta millonaria inversión en un territorio históricamente precedido por una larga historia de violencia y exclusión convierte a “esta Zona de Reserva Campesina es una semilla para construcción de la Paz Total“, como indicó el presidente Higuera. Hoy El Pato Basilias es el símbolo de la implementación de la Reforma Rural Integral y del cumplimiento de los acuerdos de paz firmados con las antiguas FARC.
La Agencia de Desarrollo Rural también brindará asistencia técnica y fortalecerá el componente asociativo dentro de la organización beneficiaria de este proyecto, para que de esta manera mejoren los procesos de producción, transformación y comercialización. Este es el primero de una serie de proyectos Estratégicos Nacionales que el Gobierno nacional cofinanciará en las diferentes Zonas de Reserva Campesina del país.
