A estos hechos se suma uno nuevo: La cónsul en Orlando, Florida, Claudia María Bustamante Ceballos, habría usado recursos públicos de manera irregular.

Según estableció Noticias Uno, Bustamante organizó el año pasado (2021) la primera feria de servicios institucionales colombianos en esa ciudad de Estados Unidos. La iniciativa tenía como fin impulsar y apoyar a la población colombiana en este territorio en el marco de la reactivación económica, pues todo se desarrollaba después de las graves afectaciones económicas que ha dejado la pandemia del covid-19. Dicha feria se realizó entre el 20 y 21 del mes de noviembre del 2021.
Es preciso resaltar que para la organización de este evento, Bustamante le solicitó a la Cancillería la suma de 35 mil dólares que sin ninguna traba se le fueron otorgados.
A pesar de los recursos que el gobierno de Colombia le había otorgado, la cónsul le cobró a los empresarios colombianos entre mil y tres mil dólares para que pudieran participar y exponer sus productos en la feria. El escándalo crece por el destino de los dineros recaudados, pues estos no habrían sido depositados en una cuenta estatal, sino, presuntamente, en una cuenta de carácter privado.
