El organismo internacional habla de todo el armamento considerado «menos letal», que es utilizado por los escuadrones antidisturbios como gas lacrimógeno y proyectiles.
Por medio de su pagina web, Amnistía Internacional publicó un comunicado sobre la situación que atraviesa Colombia en el marco del Paro Nacional en donde han sido evidentes los abusos de autoridad por parte de la fuerza pública.
La organización con sede en Londres, aclaró en su comunicado que el gobierno encabezado por Iván Duque está «utilizando indebidamente armamento y equipos de Estados Unidos para cometer vulneraciones a los derechos humanos contra manifestantes“.
Por otro lado. el organismo agregó que se le hizo un llamado al secretario de Estado de EE.UU., Antony Blinken, a que “cese de inmediato el suministro, venta o transferencia directa o indirecta de material utilizado para la represión“.
Amnistía no paró ahí y pidió a la administración de Joe Biden que tampoco dote a Colombia con «vehículos blindados o tecnologías de vigilancia y que no le brinde capacitación o cualquier otro tipo de asistencia técnica o financiera«.
