Hace unas semanas se conoció que el funcionario habría recibido amenazas contra su vida, lo que lo obligó a salir del país. Este martes regresó nuevamente y arribó al aeropuerto Simón Bolívar de Santa Marta.
Aunque Caicedo no se pronunció públicamente, aseguró en su cuenta de Twitter que: “Pese a que el riesgo contra mi vida persiste, he regresado a cumplir el mandato popular y constitucional”.

Diferentes medios de comunicación han dado a conocer el regreso del gobernador, sin embargo la Revista Semana, dirigida por Vicky Dávila, tituló la noticia de manera indignante para él y diferentes ciudadanos del país, pues este medio asegura que el gobernador se encontraba de “vacaciones” y que regresó “insistiendo en amenazas”.
El enunciado fue condenado por el gobernador quien publicó un trino con la imagen de la noticia de este medio y agregó: “Increíble, mientras la prensa internacional alerta sobre las acciones criminales en mi contra, la prensa del uribismo en Colombia desacreditan el riesgo con el mismo argumento del Gbno. Mientras unos desinforman a favor de los corruptos, otros luchamos contra la desigualdad”.
