Durante el encuentro, se discutieron varias alternativas para garantizar el suministro de agua en la ciudad, entre ellas, la exploración de aguas subterráneas y la recolección de aguas lluvias. Estas propuestas serán revisadas técnicamente en próximos comités de trabajo, donde se evaluarán las mejores opciones para mitigar los efectos de la sequía en los embalses.

A la fecha, el sistema de embalses de Chingaza, que abastece gran parte de Bogotá, se encuentra al 43,36 % de su capacidad, una cifra alarmantemente cercana al 36 % que obligaría a endurecer aún más el racionamiento de agua que ha estado vigente desde abril de este año.
Natasha Avendaño, representante del Acueducto, informó que el «día cero», momento en que los embalses del Sistema Chingaza alcanzarían solo el 36% de su capacidad, podría llegar entre la última semana de diciembre y la primera de enero.

La Alcaldía había previsto que para octubre los embalses deberían estar al 70 % de su capacidad, pero actualmente están 26,6 puntos por debajo de ese objetivo.
Carlos Fernando Galán mencionó que, si la situación no mejora en las próximas semanas, y se llegue a un «día cero», es decir, un punto en el que el suministro de agua en Bogotá estaría completamente comprometido, conllevaría a adoptar medidas aún más estrictas de racionamiento.
Por su parte, el director de la UNGRD, Carlos Carrillo, subrayó la importancia de la cooperación entre el Gobierno Nacional y el Gobierno Distrital para implementar estas soluciones, siempre respetando la autonomía de Bogotá. Además, aseguró que en los próximos días se instalarán mesas técnicas y comités intersectoriales para evaluar la situación y determinar si es necesaria una declaratoria de emergencia.
