El pasado 14 de julio se levo a cabo la final de la Copa América en el estadio Hard Rock Stadium de Miami Gardens. Esta final fue disputada por Argentina y Colombia en la que este último fue derrotado con un 1 a 0.

Sin embargo, lo que también se recuerda de este día no solo fue la derrota de la Selección Colombia, sino los fuertes disturbios ocurridos durante esta final en Miami, en donde por medio de videos se pudo observar como varios colombianos ingresaban al estadio de manera irregular, trepando las paredes e incluso ingresando por ductos de ventilación.
Por este motivo, en su momento, el representante Alejandro Ocampo se pronunció con firmeza y claridad a través de su cuenta en X, señalando la presunta responsabilidad del uribismo en los actos de violencia y desorden. En su mensaje, Ocampo expuso de manera directa y contundente cómo ciertos individuos afines al uribismo, como Diego Santos y Arizabaleta, incitaron a los presentes a manifestarse en contra del presidente Petro, incluso utilizando medios costosos como avionetas para difundir sus mensajes.
Ocampo escribió a través de su cuenta de X: «¿Quiénes causaron los disturbios de la Copa América en Miami? El uribismo debe dar muchas explicaciones. 1. El uribismo por medio de desadaptados como Diego Santos y Arizabaleta convocaron gente para gritar fuera Petro. 2. Se gastaron un poco de plata hasta en avionetas para dar un mensaje en los aires contra el presidente Petro. 3. Hay denuncias que regalaron boletas falsas y otras reales para que la gente gritara fuera Petro. 4. En Miami ganó el uribismo con el 80% de los votos, es decir el 80% son uribistas.»

No obstante, uno de los analistas de RCN, Julio César Iglesias, decidió atacar a Ocampo con declaraciones infundadas y malintencionadas a través de un video en el que distorsionó las palabras del representante del Pacto Histórico. Iglesias acusó a Ocampo de insultar a los colombianos residentes en el extranjero, específicamente a aquellos en la Florida, y de estigmatizarlos injustamente. En su mensaje que fue difundido a través de un vide, Iglesias afirmó:
«Hace unos días el representante del pacto histórico Alejandro Ocampo con este trino insultó a los colombianos residentes en el exterior, específicamente a los que viven en Estados Unidos en la Florida, estigmatizándolos. Sin embargo, lo que quizá desconoce el representante Ocampo es que esos colombianos cada vez son más importantes para la economía de este país. Acaba el banco de la República de reportar que estamos en máximos históricos de ingresos de remesas. Esos recursos que le llegan a la mamá, a la esposa o a los hijos del colombiano que reside afuera y que generalmente son usados en consumo. No, representante Ocampo, esos colombianos en el exterior que usted tanto desprecia, que usted estigmatiza, al contrario, nos están dando una mano. Sin esas divisas, sin esa cantidad cada vez más importante, más grande de divisas que están entrando, estaríamos en graves aprietos. La verdad es que al contrario de estigmatizarlos o de insultarlos, de llamarlos violentos, hay que agradecerles, agradecerles porque gracias a esos lazos familiares muchas familias colombianas están recibiendo un dinero que es fundamental para su subsistencia.»

Frente a estas acusaciones infundadas, Alejandro Ocampo respondió con contundencia y claridad, defendiendo su posición y exigiendo una rectificación pública por parte de Iglesias. Ocampo respondió: «Irresponsable, mentiroso. Usted es un propagandista de mala leche. Yo no insulté a los colombianos que viven en el extranjero. Sea serio. Dije que el uribismo tiene mucho que explicar, porque convocaron un mitin durante la Copa América y eso fue irresponsable y se salió de las manos, dejaron el nombre del país en el suelo y a un poco de colombianos con problemas legales. Y vamos a insistir en que la justicia actúe. Qué lamentable que personas como usted, tengan que mentir descaradamente para difundir su propaganda política. Le solicito de manera pública que rectifique lo que dijo de mí en su video y las acusaciones que emitido en mi contra.»
