Zulema Jattin aceptó por primera vez ante la Jurisdicción Especial para la Paz (JEP) haber realizado alianzas con paramilitares con el fin de lograr beneficios electorales particularmente en el llamado “Pacto de Sindicato” en 2003.

Sobre el expresidente, Jattin dijo que lo había visitado en 2002 para denunciarle su preocupación por el accionar de los “paras” en Córdoba prohibiendo candidatos etc. (cuando Uribe era candidato), y la respuesta del hoy exmandatario, según la exsenadora, fue que si no tenía pruebas, se abstuviera de hacerlo.
“…simplemente orientó la conversación a que si yo no tenía una prueba diferente a mi testimonio o a los testimonios de mi hermano o de William Salleg (colaborador de los “paras”), que no iba a corroborar nada lo que yo dijese en ese momento, pues era preferible que no pusiera la denuncia y eso era más que una advertencia digamos, era una sugerencia respetuosa pero a la que yo en ese momento iba a hacer total el caso”, indicó.
De acuerdo con la excongresista, el exjefe de estado no habría visto convenientes las denuncias para no generar “ruido”, ya que tenía serias posibilidades de ganar y era apoyado por el establecimiento en Córdoba y candidatos como Eleonora Pineda y Miguel Alfonso de la Espriella, quienes precisamente fueron condenados más adelante por sus vínculos con el paramilitarismo.
“Yo le hablé a él específicamente de la doctora Eleonora Pineda y del doctor Miguel de la Espriella, porque Salvatore Mancuso me había dicho que ellos eran sus candidatos (…) creo que a él le interesaba que ellos lo acompañaran, le interesaba que todo ese andamiaje político, ya que lo estaba acompañando en Córdoba, se mantuviera y si yo me ponía a hacer ruido o a denunciarlo o a hacer público (…) pues ese ruido iba a afectar la campaña presidencial” sostuvo Jattin.
Además, mencionó otro episodio en el que en 2004, en medio de la crispación política en Córdoba, señaló que estuvo en una reunión en la finca del señor Alfredo Corena, con presencia del presidente Uribe, donde los dos bandos políticos se acusaron mutuamente de tener vínculos con paramilitares y el exmandatario guardó silencio.
“En ese momento que estaba tomando rumbos ya muy agresivos, sobre todo entre los senadores Miguel de la Espriella y Juan Manuel López Cabrales y en esa reunión en presencia de Álvaro Uribe, se acusaron mutuamente de vínculos con las Autodefensas”, afirmó Jattin.
Incluso, la exsenadora sentenció que, ante la grave situación de cooptación paramilitar en el departamento, buscó denunciar los hechos ante el gobierno Uribe, pero no le hicieron caso y desatendieron sus reclamos, mencionando a exministros como Sabas Pretelt (señalado por Mancuso de presuntos nexos con las AUC) y al excomisionado Luis Carlos Restrepo.
“…con los miembros del Gobierno Nacional sí, durante ese tiempo, al exministro Sabas Pretelt en varias ocasiones le dijimos, le dije yo misma lo que está pasando, al comisionado Luis Carlos Restrepo en numerosas ocasiones. Al fiscal Alfonso Iguarán en ese momento era viceministro y a veces estaba con el ministro Sabas Pretelt, pero la verdad es que había un caso omiso completamente en el Gobierno Nacional, era peor decirles”, indicó Zulema Jattin.
