El Ministerio de Educación Ad Hoc, actuando bajo el Gobierno del Presidente Gustavo Petro, emitió una resolución ordenando al Consejo Superior Universitario (CSU) nombrar un rector encargado, argumentando irregularidades en la elección de José Ismael Peña.

Frente a esto, la directora de la Revista semana, Vicky Dávila, se refirió a este tema, hablando de lo que considera un supuesto atropello a la autonomía universitaria. En un mensaje en la plataforma de X, se refirió a las acciones del Gobierno como un borrón a la independencia de la Universidad Nacional.
«Petro borró de un plumazo la autonomía universitaria en Colombia con lo que está haciendo su Gobierno en la Universidad Nacional. Tumbar al rector elegido José Ismael Peña es una acción dictatorial y peligrosa contra estudiantes, directivos, profesores, la universidad, y dicha autonomía universitaria. Petro actúa contra la libertad y la independencia de la universidad pública… ¿qué más vendrá?», escribió Dávila a través de su red social.

Sin embargo, la senadora Mari José Pizarro respondió con contundencia, defendiendo la legitimidad de las protestas estudiantiles y resaltando la lucha histórica por la autonomía universitaria en Colombia.
Pizarro argumenta que la autonomía universitaria no se ha respetado plenamente y que el movimiento estudiantil exige simplemente el respeto a la decisión de las mayorías. Destaca que la autonomía se manifiesta en la libertad de cátedra y la participación de la comunidad universitaria, aspectos que, según ella, están siendo reflejados en las actuales asambleas estudiantiles.
La senadora reta a Dávila a presenciar la realidad de la autonomía universitaria más allá de las redes sociales, invitándola a asistir a la Asamblea permanente de la Universidad Nacional.
«Hablemos de autonomía universitaria: 1. Fue conseguida por la lucha estudiantil inspirada en el movimiento de Córdoba, una lucha de esas que no te gustan Vicky, de muchachos y muchachas protestando. 2. La autonomía universitaria no se ha respetado, esto ha significado la exigencia de un gobierno propio durante mucho tiempo en las universidades de Colombia, y es justamente lo que hoy el movimiento universitario exige en la Universidad Nacional: respeto a la decisión de sus mayorías. 3. La autonomía universitaria se expresa en la libertad de cátedra, en la participación de su comunidad, en las asambleas de los estamentos, que es lo que hoy está ocurriendo. Vicky, ¿cuándo vamos a la Asamblea permanente de la Nacho? para que veas la autonomía universitaria más allá de esta red social.», le respondió con dureza la Senadora María José Pizarro a Dávila.
