Las obras que prometió el Ministerio de Transporte para restablecer el tránsito entre Popayán (Cauca) y Pasto (Nariño) por la vía Panamericana ya fueron entregadas.
Así lo informó el ministro de la cartera, Guillermo Reyes, en Colombia Hoy Radio, en donde señaló que habrá apertura de una parte de la vía en el sur del Cauca para permitir el tránsito de los camiones transportadores de combustibles, de leche y otros alimentos, con el fin de aliviar la crisis generada por los derrumbes en el sector del municipio de Rosas

El pasado 14 de febrero el Gobierno había anunciado que este lunes se habilitaría el corredor entre los sectores de Rosas y La Depresión, con prioridad a las tractomulas por medio de un puente de 30 metros de longitud, en una vía con sentido único.
Este domingo el Invías resaltó en un comunicado que “se avanza en los trabajos en la conexión Vía Panamericana. Continuamos con la construcción del puente provisional de 30 metros en el que ya quedaron instaladas las vigas que permiten la conexión entre ambos costados de la quebrada Chontaduro”.
“Nuestro presidente hizo un compromiso con el país, con el Cauca, con todos los usuarios de la vía Panamericana, que hoy abriríamos una parte de la vía que habilitan el paso de las tractomulas que llevan leche, gasolinas, productos de primera necesidad”, dijo el ministro Reyes.
En otros tramos de la vía –que resultó afectada tras un deslizamiento de tierra el pasado 9 de enero– continúan los trabajos. Como en la de El Bordo, La Sierra y Rosas, en donde se realizan obras de ampliación, aunque, por ahora, no pueden circular vehículos de carga pesada.
Esta situación en el suroccidente del país ha dejado graves afectaciones económicas en la zona. Según la Cámara de Comercio de Cauca, el sector transportador ha perdido diariamente un promedio de $500 millones, afectando a once de los 42 municipios del departamento.
