En las últimas horas, María Ximena Lombana Villalba fue designada por Iván Duque como la nueva ministra de Comercio, Industria y Turismo.
Lombana ha estado laborando en la vida pública en embajadas en España y Francia durante los últimos años, además es hermana de Jaime Lombana, abogado personal desde hace varios años de Álvaro Uribe y que se encuentra ligado al proceso por fraude procesal que se lleva en contra del exmandatario.
Según información suministrada por Duque, la nueva ministra tiene maestrías en Derecho de Negocios Internacionales del Washington College of Law American University, y en Derecho Comercial, de la Universidad de París 2 Panthéon-Assas.
Por medio de su cuenta de Twitter, el presidente Duque confirmó el nuevo nombramiento y además agregó que: «La nueva Ministra cuenta con una amplia experiencia en los sectores de comercio, política exterior y en la academia. Fue Ministra Plenipotenciaria en las embajadas de España y Francia, Secretaria General de Bancóldex y del MinInterior».
Sin embargo, la llegada de Lombana al ministerio es una estrategia para tener cercanías con la bancada de Cambio Radical, pues la nueva ministra es cercana a Germán Vargas Lleras.
